To start I must say, god damn Lil Wayne, god damn you! You are really just that damn good at times it seems. It's greatness, and free, and best of all the sky is the limit "no ceilings!" For one I'm sure many have heard the tape but don't know if what has to be done after hearing such greatness, and that being putting everything you think and your head while listening and write it damn it!
As I wouldn't say I'm your typical Lil Wayne listener in his realm of mixtape series, but this one, increible. With rhymes spanning from allusions to Sportscenter and household name athletes to historical references, to the good ol' praise of "smookin the good weed," Wayne goes at it from every possible angle while, I mind you, doing it all high on drugs and completely impromptu. The little things like the selection of production to intricate transissions in rhyme scheme make this mixtape just awesome.
And the reason it's so good, I downloaded it maybe a little over a week ago and I'm still giving it play in full rotation. With any good Lil Wayne I hope listeners don't just swallow it all up and give it some constructive criticism. Still having yet to elevate his rhyme scheme above the simple figurative language, often comparing simple things and word but at the same time if you're not amazed by some of the word-play and rhymes you're not giving him a fair ear. I have no doubt if not all of his mixtapes, most are effortless, probably the scraps of thousands of recorded rhymes he's recorded. He claims recording seven in the morning, and that's just dedication. Doing this all while plugging the names of all his not so commercially successful Young Money artists just shows he's having fun. And that's the best music to listen to.
