If No Ceilings Just Great, There's No Questions, It Just Is

To start I must say, god damn Lil Wayne, god damn you! You are really just that damn good at times it seems. It's greatness, and free, and best of all the sky is the limit "no ceilings!" For one I'm sure many have heard the tape but don't know if what has to be done after hearing such greatness, and that being putting everything you think and your head while listening and write it damn it!

As I wouldn't say I'm your typical Lil Wayne listener in his realm of mixtape series, but this one, increible. With rhymes spanning from allusions to Sportscenter and household name athletes to historical references, to the good ol' praise of "smookin the good weed," Wayne goes at it from every possible angle while, I mind you, doing it all high on drugs and completely impromptu. The little things like the selection of production to intricate transissions in rhyme scheme make this mixtape just awesome.

And the reason it's so good, I downloaded it maybe a little over a week ago and I'm still giving it play in full rotation. With any good Lil Wayne I hope listeners don't just swallow it all up and give it some constructive criticism. Still having yet to elevate his rhyme scheme above the simple figurative language, often comparing simple things and word but at the same time if you're not amazed by some of the word-play and rhymes you're not giving him a fair ear. I have no doubt if not all of his mixtapes, most are effortless, probably the scraps of thousands of recorded rhymes he's recorded. He claims recording seven in the morning, and that's just dedication. Doing this all while plugging the names of all his not so commercially successful Young Money artists just shows he's having fun. And that's the best music to listen to.

5IVE WORDS

ROCCO BULMER - DESTROYS THE INVADERS

My boy Rocco Bulmer Chicago goes in on seven 80s dub beats, great concept eh? Of course, take a listen I was surprised when I first heard it, but it's greatness. Check the anthem 'Chi-Town', "blacka blacka!" or much rather the beautiful picture of the real Chicago.

Thoughts on why New Wu is an awesome track!!

So yeah, the moment I heard this song, I knew I wanted to say something about it. And that's usually how things work with me and this blog nowadays, something really has to stand out in order for me to be compelled to write. Starting with the foundation of the track, RZA puts together a a simple yet incredible beat, in which he borrows from a late 60s early 70s funk track by The Magictones. I say simple because indeed, a short snippet of the song that was sampled, coupled with some thumping, bass, and gun-blasts and its literally tempted me to call it perfect. And the harmonic tone of the the sample as it repeatedly goes in and out making me think of a 30s blues jazz singer serenade the name of the Wu. Incredible, because the "New Wu" is just that, yet so reminiscent of the "Old Wu" if you will. It's this infusion, be it the crackling of the record player, the cocaine references , and most importantly the collection of respectable MCs on a single track that really makes you appreciate how good these guys are.

Raekwon simply 'goes in' with his straight-forward punchline packed rhymes.
"rhymemaster bizzy-rizzy on the subject, love deck, thug battle, drug vest, snub set, killin the most." Ghostface, with the best verse in my opinion, "bullet-proof tuxes, knuckles is games is clobberin' bustas, 18 niggas is bringin da ruckus," holds is own as still one of the most creative, polished, and don't give a fuck lyricist. And I don't think anything tops the hook which tells all my chicks to hold their tits, and all my niggas to take a toke of this weed. Method Man, the pothead Method Man, he just goes off, and is "livin the life." So there you have it, if you can't make out what I'm trying to say oh well, I'm not a good writer, but I know how to get an idea across, shit, just look at the title if anything.

Casey Veggies - Customized Greatly Vol. 2

Though I wasn't apart of the production process of this project I can truly appreciate what looks like a ton of hard work by young Mr. Veggies and his associates to produce such a highly anticipated mixtape (and yes, myself and I wouldn't doubt quite a few others were anxiously waiting for this tape.) And though I have yet to listen to the tape in it's entiretly I'm sure the young Veggie DID NOT disappoint.
